Balpin
Is there something clinically wrong with you, or are you really like this all the time? Calm down dear, by god. Gratuitous personal insults are the sign of a person losing it big time. I would advise you take more water with it. You must be foaming at the mouth. grafikhaus74
Yes, Gaddafi has been killed by the West including our own Government. A fine day for democracy! In other news, Cameron and Hague have rushed forward a meeting in the House to next Monday, where Whips will order MPs which way to vote on the EU debate.... townblade
Here's the BBC thread http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-15385955 I bet one or two people on here are upset by the news. Halibut will be very upset. Gaddafi was one of his heroes.
Frank Sidney
Whatever you say about him and I know he was bad the people who captured and killed him were no more than animals and that's disrespectful to animals..
Rupert_Baehr
So Gadhaffi - who probably wasn't a very nice guy - is dead. That was on the cards. Surely, nobody expected the new regime to treat him as an honourable vanquished foe, did they? But Gadhaffi didn't fight a one-man war. Given that it took more than 6 months to beat him (and his forces were fighting not only the rebels, but the combined weight of NATO - headed by the UK and France - and given that the population of Libya is about 5.5 million people, is it unreasonable to suggest that at least 2,5 million were on his side? The new regime killed Gaddhaffi. Do you think they are going to welcome his supporters with open arms or with a hail of bullets? If you were an ex-Gaddhaffi supporter, would you feel safe in Libya or do you think it might be a good idea to go elsewhere? If you felt your life was in danger, should you not seek asylum? - You'd certainly fit the criteria. Where would you go? Where should you go? - Would the countries who caused you to be a refugee (UK and France) not bear some sort of responsibility? (America did't get involved in this one. - The Brits and the French can carry the responsibility.) If there were 2.5 million Libyan refugees and France offered to take 1.5 million of them (dream on!) where are the Brits going to put their million? Sheffield is 'the biggest Village in England' - You'll probably only get 250,000 Libyan refugees. Where are you going to put them?

I reckon places like Libya will end up worse, just like Iraq and Afghanistan will. Your comments are correct. He had a large support in the country and the rebels probably wouldn't have won without the help of the west. You've highlighted what will happen once we move out, it'll all end in chaos... callippo
no matter how much the left try to weasel out of it now, there's no question Gaddaffi was a hero to the Socalist Worker crowd and not just them either. As usual they delude themselves that these tyrants are 'anti imperialists' just because they have this cosmetic anti-western rhetoric. Chavez is basically today's version of what Gadaffi was in the 1980s. I attended a WRP meeting in London once as a teenager and when it finished the whole lot of them started to chant 'GADAFFI GADAFFI GADAFFI!'. numbskulls.
