townblade
Libya has as much chance of being a democracy as you have of plaiting fog. One thing I can guarantee, years of war and turmoil. Right on our doorstep. Bye bye mediterranean holidays. How do you know? They must be given a chance. Good luck to them. Dictatorships have been overthrown in other north African countries without any threat to the west.

Dictatorships have been overthrown in other north African countries without any threat to the west. None is comparable to this. The others were given gentle nudges using special forces and small armies. The full might of NATO was thrown against this, and the people fought back bravely. But the combination of Al Queada and NATO was too much for them. They have fallen and we have this bunch now pretending to the country as Democrats. To use a Yorkshire phrase, 'never while I have an hole in my arse' are they supporters of democracy.

ricgem2002
By executing him the rebels have shown they are the same as gaddaffi, in a true democracy he should have been arrested and handed over to the ICC and stood trial. The videos show him dazed and injured after the nato strike and putting up no resistence, if arrested maybe we would have learn't the truth about Lockerbie and other shady goings on. maybe this gov and other countries govs didnt want him to stand trial and maybe find things out . while they will condem his execution i bet they are secretly releived

Gaddafi was supplying the ira with arms and semtex for years. And what about that murder in London? If you think the cia was responsible for Lockerbie you want your bumps feeling. You are really upset that a dictator has gone aren’t you?
Jim Hardie
How is it just to execute him in the street without him ever having to face up to his crimes? It's what happens to dictators that are hated by their countrymen. It can happen a lot closer to home than North Africa too. Mussolini and Chauchesku (he might as well have been executed in the street) spring to mind.
