Tess
You sure. Under what brand as it doesn't seem to match any of theirs like Ember Inns, Vintage Inns, All Bar One etc.....? I was under the impression it was a businessman from Sheffield who also owns the former Pomona now called the Ecclesall. Thats the impression I got as well. What does the sign say, "Stylishly Different"? This could be interesting.....
jemson
Any news on when this pub is opening? I'm very curious! We wlways have to traipse over to the Sheaf if we want a decent pub. The Ale House on Fraser ain`t far. Top ales and friendly nowadays! When does Millhouses open then?

verona
Found out it's a joint venture between Enterprise and Yorkshire based company W L Leisure, same people that have done a few other pubs including what was the pomona. In the Gazette in mentions opening this Sunday but then in one of the catering mags it says Thursday 24th Nov? Anyway, I'm looking forward to it. Hope they do the same with the Cherry Tree. POLSKI
Anyway, I'm looking forward to it. Hope they do the same with the Cherry Tree. Agreed, the Cherry needs a facelift. It has potential to be a good pub once again.
Andy C
PRESS RELEASE FROM THE MILLHOUSES New era as Millhouses pub opens to the public A Sheffield pub will turn over another page in its 170-year history later this month when it steps into a new era by opening its doors to the public after a major refurbishment. The Millhouses, on Abbeydale Road, which started life as the Millwright’s Arms, has benefited from a total transformation to put it at the heart of the local community as a place to meet and enjoy good food and popular real ales. The pub, re-developed by South Yorkshire company WL Leisure in conjunction with Enterprise Inns, the national pub and tenant lease company, will be employing top- class chefs and serving a wide variety of locally sourced food when it opens to the public on Thursday, November 24. Chris Windle, a director of WL Leisure, said: “The Millhouses is an exciting development at a time when we are seeing so many pubs closing down. We think the pub is the perfect place for locals to come dining in a sophisticated but homely setting. “We have a fantastic team in place with Landlady Carol Baines who has run pubs right across South Yorkshire.” A wide selection of food, freshly made each day and ranging from steak and kidney pie to lobster, will be served from noon until 9pm, with prices ranging from £8 to £28. Specials will be changing on a weekly basis. The Millhouses will also be serving cask ales, as well as top quality wines and champagnes. In keeping with its importance to the community, the pub will be displaying old photographs of the area and Sheffield generally as a talking point for customers. In pride of place will be photographs of Sheffield’s world-famous cutlery manufacturing process. The pub has been used as a base by various clubs and organisations over the years, including the Millhouses Motor Club, and one photograph is of the club’s Christmas dinner held in an upstairs room there in the 1930s. The Millhouses development follows a similar refurbishment by WL Leisure and Enterprise Inns of The Barrel at Chapeltown, Sheffield, where major work has turned the pub into a contemporary venue with real ales and, for the first time, food. In a separate project, WL Leisure director Chris has revived The Pomona in Sheffield and it has re-opened under the new name of The Ecclesall. jemson
Looks like they`re targetting top end punters judging by the food prices. Be interesting to see if the ales match up.
AYBABTU
Just who are WL Leisure ? This is pub #3 they have renovated in very recent months (presumably with the help of enterprise?) Company was only formed in March 11 , no website I can find. And the Director Chris Windle has directorship at 8 other current companies , plus several dissolved and several resigned... None of them looks financially viable? Just seems very weird....
