love_rat
A friend who is a diversity officer on £42 per annum, is disgusted with these capitalists who are a drain on our society. His post as a diversity officer for toddlers in playgrounds is likely to be cut. For those wondering, his job was to go round to each park, and monitor the ethnicity of all the children who used the slides. He is protesting at the capitalists who he says are a drain and a rip off to society HOOOZARRR

By the way £42k is about one tenth of what the average bonus was for Goldman Sachs employees this year
ElasticMan
Ian Hislop put it brilliantly on HIGNFY this week when he said 'You don't have to want to return to a barter system in the stone age, to complain about the way the financial crisis affected a large number of people around the world do you??' This was in response to the idiotic Louise Mensch complaining that some of the protestors bought coffee from Starbucks or had iphones... http://liberalconspiracy.org/2011/10/22/watch-louise-mensch-mp-gets-ridiculed-on-hignfy-over-occupylsx-jokes/

By the way £42k is about one tenth of what the average bonus was for Goldman Sachs employees this year Point taken, yes it was a made up example. HOwever, 42k per annum is what diversity officers get paid for non jobs. Funnily enough many of these people with the non jobs were strangely silent during the new labour years when the true damage was being done. I also accept that 42k is about a tenth of the goldman sachs bonus. HOwever 42k per annum - if you were to divide that figure by 52 weeks, and then divide that figure by 35 hours (35 hours a week worked), then the diversity officer on 42k per annum is on £23.08 per hour. Thats almost 4 times as much as someone on the minimum wage. So the diversity officers, and no doubt many of these protesters are not exactly without a bob or two themselves

They were very silent during the 2001-2006 era when the real working class were being shafted. NO doubt enjoying the champaine lifestyle, and the coffee bar ambience thate there hefty salarys gave them access to. NOt to mention, access to better areas in leafy parts of the city. Now their cosy exsistance is under threat, they are out protesting. They backed the policies that shafted the true working class of this country 10 years too late, thats why nobody takes then seriously, but as they say "what goes around, comes around"

Upper ignored the existence of middle class and likewise middle showed contempt for lower in general but there have always been a few from each class that have recognised and rallied to support. They've been there but not in such numbers maybe.
