Tartempion
I'm a girl and I already do a martial art - don't know if that counts...? I go to Taekwondo at Hillsborough leisure centre and at the English Institute of Sport. There are plenty of girls, grown-up or otherwise, who go there too. I think it's great for fitness, self-confidence, balance, coordination, flexibility... I could go on... Anyway, it's fun. Try it - you might like it! http://www.pilsung.freeserve.co.uk/ Good luck! Spanna2005
We need more girls at my club! I do jiu jitsu at the University of Sheffield and it is fantastic for self confidence and coordination, plus there are definite self defence benefits from practicing it. Sessions are at Goodwin Sports Centre on Thursdays 8pm til 10pm and Saturdays 10am til 12.30pm. Cost per session is £2, but your first session is free. We also have a session at Sheffield Hallam University on Wednesdays 7pm at the Movement Studio. Cost is £3.50, unless you already have membership there. http://www.jitsufoundation.org for more details Oh and January will be a great time to start as the students will be busy with exams

meumeu77
Spanna 2005: so is not just for students then? Great, I'll think seriously about it because I'm getting very lazy at the moment. What's Jiu Jitsu exactly? Can you PM me about the times, etc? Ta. Freddylee: I thought about kick boxing but I'm scared I might hurt myself too much. I know that's not very brave of me, is it?
cloza1991
I used to do ju-jit-su but quit due to family problems as my dad was a sensei there Its just another form of martial art but shows you more on self defence.
