ElasticMan
Its only fair that we helped the rebels - we helped Gadaffi by arming him in the first place.
Murphy Jnr
On the positive side, at least his death has spared any embarrasement on the faces of Western powers
skinz
Didn't the revolution start before we got involved? Those sitting in dictatorships must be crapping themselves and decorating sewage pipes in gold.

To a point I'm not entirely convinced the west is innocent.
Bruce_Shark
Can we call it a peoples revolution after outside military intervention? I think the Americans would say so, and have done since 1776.

Neither am I, and there are reports suggesting exactly that so i'm sure his death has been rejoiced with the same amount of fervour in The White House and Downing Street to name but two. Peas Maker
the intervention was hardly massive, all the heavy fighting was done by the people, so yes, it was a people's revolution 8 months of bombing 4000+ sorties flown ( last time I looked ) Weapons supplied to rebels If that is not massive outside support what is ? Libya has around 5 mill in population it took the full might of NATO 8 months to finally end this Meaning there was a good amount of support for Ghdaffi . No one cam deny that . I'm sure American backed dictators such as Saudi Arabia or morocco will not really be too worried about American bombs falling on their regime , will they ? When is a dictator a good dictator And when is he a bad dictator in the eyes of corporate west?
VideoPro
There were 7,920 strike sorties. Not all strike sorties result in a weapon being fired. Qatar was the biggest outside supplier weapons and is not a NATO partner. Not the "full might of NATO". 8 member states took part in selective targeting, not all out, indiscriminate bombing. Libya's population is estimated at 6.4 million. These are the countries that took part. The % is their respective amount of weapons discharged. France: 33 per cent US: 16 per cent Denmark: 11 per cent Britain: 10 per cent Canada: 10 per cent Italy: 10 per cent Norway: 10 per cent Belgium: unknown Source
Harleyman
Libya? After massive outside intervention is Libya really a peoples revolution ? How would the Libyan rebels have succeeded without outside intervention in the first place? Without the help Khadaffy would have wiped em of the face of the earth

What do you mean American backed dictators? The UK and France are by far the biggest ass kissers of the Saudi and Morrocan regimes.
