BishopEvents
Dear Friends, On Saturday 29th October at 7.30pm, for the final evening of the Off the Shelf Festival, Bishops House opens its doors to Sheffield's Savage Poets Collective: Michael Glover, Matt Clegg and David Stead. Our last 'Poetry, Music and Wine' event at Bishops House was a great success and we are very excited about this one. Michael Glover is an acclaimed poet, art critic, writer and editor. His collections of poems include Impossible Horizons, Amidst all this Debris, For the Sheer Hell of Living and the recently published 'Only So Much' David Stead will read from old poems and new. David was born in Leeds and lives in Sheffield. He is a teacher: of adults and children; Spanish, poetry and history. Matthew Clegg will read from Cave Time and Sea Changes, a new sequence about Flamborough Head. Matt received an Eric Gregory Award in 1997 and from 1999-2001 was a poet in residence at Dove Cottage, Grasmere. His publications include Edgelands (2008) and Lost Between Stations (2011) Norman West and friends will provide music interludes. Friends of Bishops House will provide wine! Michael's forthcoming Memoir, "Headlong into Pennilessness" recalls humble beginnings in Fir Vale and the freedom that music and academic success presented. Norman West will perform a set of songs harking back to Michael's youth and then later in the evening will premiere a series of songs Michael has written for a musical-in-the-making set in Coningsby Road, Fir Vale. The evening will finish with Michael reading from his recently published collection of poems, "Only so much". We hope to see you there! The evening should finish approx 9.30pm Tickets £6 on the door. Free wine and refreshments. Bishops House, Norton Lees Lane, Sheffield, S8 9BE The events tream, Friends of Bishops House
