Sean Hughes
Quite often I get emails saying my Lloyds and HSBC account have been frozen, but I have never banked with them so obviously I ignore them. Makes me wonder how many people fall for it though!
upinwath
Several times, however it's my bank account details I was concerned about. All available on every cheque you write and all equally useless to a fraudster. It's like seeing the padlock but having no clue about the key. I suspect Mr "Asian accent" would be after PIN numbers or getting you to sign a DD.

Jim Hardie
That's what Clarkson thought. Shouldn't the bank write to you to confirm the details of a direct debit?

I'll add to my post. ....unless the bank act like prats but you'll get your cash back anyway if they didn't do their job properly. Saying that, he deserved it for being .....well, him. Guest
Shouldn't the bank write to you to confirm the details of a direct debit? You fill in the appropriate form and that's it, as I recall. I don't know whether Clarkson's 'hacker' did anything other than that. I'll add to my post. ....unless the bank act like prats but you'll get your cash back anyway if they didn't do their job properly. Saying that, he deserved it for being .....well, him. Yes indeed, the arrogant git. Made me chuckle.
