HeadingNorth
Only human arrogance would cause someone to think that. Logic has nothing to do with arrogance. It's a way of working out whether something makes sense or not. Things that don't make sense, can't be true.
danot
Why? Because the anyone religious would agree with you. Sooner or later you have no choice but to except that something can exist without cause or creator.
MrSmith
Only human arrogance would cause someone to think that. The mystery of creation clearly isn't governed by the known laws of universal physics, so why would it governed by the rules of logical reasoning? It's way beyond our comprehension. That's the only answer there is. If it’s beyond your comprehension how you can say it is implausible for the universe to exist without a cause. danot
Maybe it's the case that we have got a way to go until we fully understand the universal laws of physics.I'll agree with that.
danot
Science isn't a belief. Scientific laws aren't based upon faith, they are testable over and over again. You can't test something that you've no understanding of.
danot
Not true. You only get caught in it with the assumption that nothing can exist without needing a cause. If you accept that things can exist without cause, there is no problem. The Universe exists. You don't need to invent a cause. Then the creationist argument is sound. MrSmith
Because the anyone religious would agree with you. Why would someone religious agree? Religious people tend to think that for something to exist it must have a creator.
danot
So we are looking for something that defies the rules of logic the universal laws of physics that can create a universe. This something would have to have a cause or reason to exist or must always have existed.Of course it has a cause and a reason, just like everything else does. Why wouldn't it? Creation is what it is, there can be no alternative causes, there can be no alternative reasons. The only thing I can expect to alter is my understanding of it. JFKvsNixon
You can't test something that you've no understanding of. All we can say is that the evidence we currently have supports our hypothesis. Scientists are more than happy to accept that when new evidence that comes to light it changes the way that they look at the universe. Just look at excitement the suggestion that mass may be able to travel faster than the speed of light has stirred up.
