Sheffield, why no Michelin stars?

I'm a person who enjoys good food and my partner and I are trying to rack up a few visits to the exclusive restaurants in the UK. So far this year have been to The Kitchin (Edinburgh, 1 star), Le Gavroche (Mayfair, 2 stars) and Alain Ducasse at the Dorchester (Mayfair, 3 stars)...why do we not have any exquisite fare in Sheffield being such a large city?

I've been to Moran's and I agree, it's a surprise that they aren't more highly acclaimed. It's just a shame that I think Leeds and Manchester have developed far quicker than Sheffield has in a lot of ways.

Michelin stars aren't handed out ten-a-penny so it doesn't bother me personally that there are no Michelin star restaurants in Sheffield.

That said, it would be refreshing to see more independent, good quality restaurants popping up around the city and in the city centre particularly, because there are far too many generic chain restaurants to be had in the city centre.

Knock yourself out someone has compiled a list of them all!

Nothing above 1* in any major city outside of London really.

I am more surprised to see Manchester doesn't seem to have any, (I am guessing Greater Manchester must)and Leeds has just one?

So not very surprising that we have just one too. Fischers is listed as Baslow.

P.S. I have worked at Fischers, Hambleton Hall and Gravetye Manor!
