darren17
I'm going to Cuba for 2 weeks holiday in a couple of weeks. I'm thinking of taking sterling to exchange there, but also want to take a bank card as well. Does anyone know if you are can use a Halifax Mastercard Credit card over there? Jeffrey Shaw
Surely any Mastercard (or Visa Card), being an international brand, can be used wherever the brandname card is accepted. Still, best to ask Halifax. Many Banks' anti-fraud software may block a card being unexpectedly used overseas.
speedbirdone
Any Mastercard can be used anywhere in the world where the Mastercard logo is diplayed, same goes for Visa, AMEX ect ect. I would also advise letting your bank know that you maybe making some transactions on your card whilst in Cuba.

Stepman
Make sure that you are well insured if you go to Cuba. I knew a quite young guy who died of pneumonia over there very recently whilst on holiday. He did not receive proper care as his insurance was voided due to a technicality. He was 40 something. Trinity
Hi we went to Cuba in august this year. Credit cards are not widely accepted we used our Nationwide credit card to pay for trips with Thomas Cook rep and for duty free at the airport. We took sterling and exchanged it at the cadeca in the hotel, debit cards were accepted at the Cadeca although we didn't use one. Any card that has any affiliation with America will not be accepted so best to check with your bank. Cuba is a lovely place and the Cuban people are very friendly. Have a good holiday.
