alternageek
Keep a reusable carrier bag in your handbag and save the 5p. ^^ This ^^
poppins
I use the Supermarket reusable canvas bags they sell but not to save money as I still have them bag my stuff in plastic then transfer to the canvas bags for easier carrying, also I wouldn't want to put food loose in a bag that I'd be using over and over again. cressida
I've had some nice free bags which come with magazines, they roll up really small too
Strix
Apparently, plastic carrier bags have been outlawed in Italy http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/2011/may/20/europe-plastic-bag-ban Bring it on! I can't believe some of the attitudes people have here (probably the same people who think it's okay to shove their tree prunings over their fence onto playing fields at the back )

willman
I'm not prepared to pay for carrier bags... The charge for bags is a tax, profits are already increased to compensate the store for providing a"free" carrier bag. Do they intend on reducing prices or do we as nation intend on blindly following some alleged environmental benefit like solar panels. Modern carrier bags are insufficient to do multiple visits for a weekly grocery , some don't do the job once. What about the little plastic bags they use to seperate products , i bet people still want to use those before using their environmental friendly bags?
