I had my hair highlighted last week and cut for £19 - a lot cheaper than the £84 they would have charged. To go lighter, with brown hair the shade you've described, you will need peroxide, mixed with a colour. Forget the lemon juice - I've tried that, but it only adds shine to those with blonde hair already. I tried and failed with that method and my natural hair is similar to yours.
