Rupert_Baehr
It was called softball. You can still play it, but the ball is larger than a baseball and it isn't soft. It is kind of like baseball but a bit simpler. ... Baseball is simple enough. You pick your nose, chew gum, spit and scratch your crotch.
denlin
Ithink the thread was about why shops sell baseball BATS not caps of any description. They even sell them in argos, I think they sell them so that people can play baseball not for idiots to use as a weapon, the same way they sell cricket bats and golf clubs which can be just as lethal in the wrong hands - shall we ban all sports equipment or address the real issues? sccsux
the only game similar to that was rounders Though with flat bats, softer ball and no protection/padding.
Cyclone
rounders bats aren't flat and the ball is just as hard, but smaller.
sccsux
rounders bats aren't flat They're like miniature cricket bats (or they were when I was at school). Like this one.
upinwath
Just because you have never seen anyone play it does it mean nobody does then?? In the eyes of some people.... Usually the uniformed and uneducated.
JFKvsNixon
Softball is variation on baseball, also American. In the this country the only game similar to that was rounders It's thought that baseball actually started life here, before making it's way across the pond to the US. denlin
Though with flat bats, softer ball and no protection/padding. Rounders bats weren't flat - why do you think they called it rounders? They were exactly same as baseball bats except not quite as long,at least the ones we usecd at school in the 60's were:D:love: and the balls used were like cricket balls not soft at all
denlin
They're like miniature cricket bats (or they were when I was at school). Like this one. That's not a rounders bat that's an adaptation they used in infant/junior schools for the little ones
