Maniac Drivers on the Snake Pass…

Recommended Posts

Hi all.

I've recently started seeing someone in Hyde, so living in Woodseats I've been doing a lot of travelling over the Snake Pass.

Now, I'm a very confident driver, my car is in good condition and can handle the road very well, but it seems that every time I get onto the Pass there's someone right on my tail within minutes. The whole road is now a 50 speed limit, and I'm fine taking all the corners and bumps at the that speed, maybe slower if it's in the dark, but people seem to overtake (even on corners) and cruise off in excess of 70mph.

Is it me, or is this just completely crazy?? I can't help thinking that these people must have somewhere massively important to get to, but at the end of the Pass I'm usually one car behind them anyway...

Is it just me? Has anyone else noticed the Snake Pass as being a haven for completely insane drivers?

thankfully I am now retired but I used to go over to manchester quite often and going back 25 years the drivers on this road and woodhead were just as bad then.

Trainee corpses either have a very bad near miss (which slows them down) , or hit and kill or maim someone (which slows them down) ,or grow up (which slows them down), or get killed themselves.

I would suggest that idiots always need to learn from their own mistakes as they are not bright enough to learn through other peoples.:)

no it's not just you,i drive over the snake pass most weekends to visit family in salford and some of the drivers on the snake pass are a***holes!!!!

I stick to the 50 mph speed limit and often have people tail-gating me, and have noticed more recently more police speed cameras parked up along the snake pass. So if these people who have to drive just that bit faster want to, let them and laugh when they've been pulled over for speeding.:hihi:

If people want to get past wy not just let them? The speed limit was fine before they reduced it so if people want to speed then let them! They won't get stressed being stuck behind someone doing 50 and you don't get stressed about being tail gated.

It's not rocket science.
