Lady Star
Will their best friends please inform the modern women of today who wear those black tights, that it is the most unflattering clothing ever devised by man/woman. I was walking behind a lass the other day, she was pushing a pram and was dressed in the infamous tights. I couldn't help but notice, she had an arse and a half, emphasised by those bloody tights. I thought then that a nice flower printed fifties/sixties frock (ala Pam Ferris, The Darling Buds Of May) would be more appropriate and flattering. The skinny lasses should stay away from these tights also, they only emphasise the huge distorted kneecaps on Olive Oyl legs, again a frock or skirt is more appropriate. I have stated on other threads that in my opinion the sexiest woman's outfit is the simple pleated skirt and blouse, See Shirley Anne Fields in the sixties (Happy Days TV.) I have a theory that today's women are evolving into men (Manettes) they have to wear the trousers, can't you just see such as the Loose Women stood at the bar of their local in their tights with their sleeves rolled up over their Man Mountain Dean arms effing and blinding while discussing tattoos and the offside rule and drinking pints down in one go, then breaking wind thunderously. Meanwhile the men (Julian Clary, Gok Wan, Alan Carr, Graham Norton, Stephen Fry and Jongo and the rest) who are evolving into (Ladyettes) Like refugees from the Barleycorn, are sat in the snug, hairnets on, sipping Babycham and gossiping about camponology. I see you are not a fan of Katherine Hepburn or Marlene Dietrich - they always wore trousers and adopted a more 'male' persona... Nothing new there you know
Mister M
Men do not dress for there age. Is it any wonder that we therefore have youths who smash things up? Perhaps if men wore suits, then teens would not riot?[/QUOTE] Wearing a suit didn't stop the Bullingdon club members such as Boris Johnson from rioting
OOmpa
I remember when I was getting ready to go out in the early 80's wearing my Levi jeans and my dad said 'why are you wearing jeans they are for going to work in'

denlin
You do still see these ladies knocking about, but they're collecting their pensions now... The fashions of the 50's and 60's are not the fashions of today - Not sure about the idea that these fashions extended into the 70's and 80's though? Think you lived in another england to me there! That's when jeans and trainers etc started to make headway - I can recall a sea of benneton sweatshirts and joe bloggs jeans in the 1980's! That's not true, a lot of the fashions of today definitely are very similar to the sixties and early seventies with platform shoes etc
Frank Sidney
I don't think modern jeans do a lot for the botty of a hotty. They seem to flatten it and make it look like its been hit by a huge shovel Give me a girl in some old 501's or similar any day...
sccsux
We are all in our Sixties,Seventies, and Eighties sat in THE RAWSON SPRING having the time of our lives just like we used to in the good old days when men were men and women were women. That's not quite true of the 80s:D No one night stands,no drugs, our enjoyment was singing and dancing going for walks the simple things in life. That is most definitely not how I would describe the 80s.

bullerboY
What about the pregnant women who wear tight ill fitting tee shirts which come to just below their breasts and the black tights halfway down their arse who look as if they are just about to give birth in the street, they are revolting when I was young they covered things up with maternity clothes and just melted in with the crowd.Cuttsie is right these younger women are slobs and probably have the morals of an ally cat and are profuse around the town centre.
