Why are women suffering so much in this recession ?

Recommended Posts

Only a few years ago, the future appeared to be female.

Women were on top, and the men were underneath - not good for the blokes in the employment stakes.

girls were outperforming the boys in school exams, women were getting better degree grades.

The employment scene appeared to favour women, as the service industry grew, skills required were people skills, communication skills and the ability to multi-task. Men it seemed were on the scraphead.

We now have more females in parlament who are introducing things that favour women.

And as work was becoming ever more part time (full time work was becoming a thing of the past), this again appeared to favour men, who often did not need full time work, either because they were not the main breadwinner in the home, or they worked part-time, and topped up the wages with tax credits.

So where has it gone wrong for women?

With all the female MPs, you would have though they would have found a solution to problems of women in the workplace.

Men are becoming more 'in the know', and want wimmin back in the kitchen cooking cheaper food, instead of takeaway stuff.

If we were an industrialised nation, and stength and brawn was the key attribute for the workplace, then yes, you could understand why women maybe sidelined.

BUt the current workplace, works to the very strengths that women have over men and as such, if anyone was to suffer - you would probably expect men to the ones feeling the pain.

What makes you think women MP's are any less or more inclined to a solution than men?

I thought that women were put into these positions, in order to solve the very problems that women would have.

The argument was that if you only have male MPs, then you only ever get viewpoints from a mens point of view (and yes, many men do think a womans place is in the home)

I think their put in positions because they have a good relationship with their constituents..male or female.

Trying to think who was put into a ministerial position to the benefit of other women.

Communication and multi-tasking; not two areas I've found women to be strong in...
