LeMaquis
Cats should only be allowed out if wearing a collar and on a lead in the charge of a responsible adult. Who's going to enforce all this? Are there going to be cat patrols on every street checking on every cat? As for the OP, who's going to investigate every killing of a creature to see if it was a cat that did it and if so which one is responsible? Should the council install CCTV to monitor cats? Can DNA be used to pinpoint an individual cat? Can pawprints be used like fingerprints? Why should all this money be spent catching cats when it could be spent chasing human killers, rapists, burglars, drug dealers, etc? The nutters you get on here. LeMaquis
Some excellent points for discussion. At the very least I demand fair trials for every cat with interpreters from purring into English. I know what every cat's defence will be though. I killed that sparrow? Me ow?
Magilla
What if it was a cross bred dog/cat ? Couldn't say, I've no experience with one
shims
What if it was a cross bred dog/cat ? Homer Simpson tried to do this by placing Santa's Little Helper and Snowball II together in a bound sack and playing groovy music but they were having none of it. shims
Should owls be prosecuted for eating dormice? Yes, it would help to raise funds for the treasury.

rollwithit
Sounds like a silly idea? Well, when you consider that a dog gets put down when it bites someone, regardless of the circumstances it seems very unfair on the dog. If the dogs owner is a waste of space, or the dog is constantly being tormented, sometimes it may bite - the dog then gets put down, and the owner gets away scot free. Contrast that with a cat, who is let out each and every day and often kills or maims smaller animals such as birds. The bird that has just been killed could be the mother to many baby birds, and if the mother dies then so do the baby birds. So why are cat owners not made to pay for the actions of the cat? surely it is time that cat owners were taken to court and prosecuted? Surely a case could be easily made with the cat and the owner in the dock, both could then be sentenced with the owner being sent to prison for murder? a sentence of 28 days could deter other cat owners? Sounds far from silly. If you as a human was to kill a bird you could face animal cruelty charges as many birds are protected species. Yet household pets can cause distruction to the native wildlife and there owners are not held responsible.
Pinksarah889
Have u ever tried walking a cat on a lead. There are some strange people on here. It's a cats instinct to kill birds it's human nature. Snakes eat mice rats etc, I suppose you think they should only be given lettuce
