Halal meat - ignore it, or eat it?

Recommended Posts

same difference

if you CHOOSE to be a muslim or choose to STAY a muslim its YOUR choice to be forbidden from eating it

if YOUR a vegi etc its YOUR choice (unless it makes you ill then its not a choice) and in a way its forbidden to eat meat because otherwise youd look rather silly eating meat and being a vegi

so really both are exactly the same

A lot more people would grow up being vegetarians if they were indoctrinated into the process from early childhood as they are with religion. Being a Muslim or Christian is not a 'choice' for most people. As for choosing to 'Stay a Muslim', the penalty for leaving the faith is death. Get real.

I detest KFC and their practices. Making animals suffer for our convenience. Don't eat any meat and make the world a better place.

What about the mass slaughter of vegetables and plants of all kinds that takes place at the end of every summer.

No one ever thinks about the suffering they go through do they?

God intended us to eat animals.

That is why he made them of meat.

What a load of crock, if this was going on openly do you think we muslims would be turning a blind eye? We have to eat it so there is no way we would allow this

If you believe this then you really don't understand about halal at all apart from the obvious propaganda you are fed.

The firm was located at Shelf, near Bradford.

Look it up.

Getting back to what this thread is about: halal meat being sold in various supermarkets and fast food outlets. If it is now the default in certain fast food restaurants it will be because it's far cheaper and easier than maintaining a choice between halal and non-halal but really, it should be offered as a choice, requested by those who require it. Are those who require kosher meat catered for in the same fashion? What about those who would like a vegetarian option?

You could say that if you are a vegetarian, KFC is a strange choice of outlet for your meal but when did KFC become an Islamic meal? Are KFC outlets prevalent in the countries where British Muslims have their origins? Why not kosher meat? Because there are less Jews in the UK than Muslims? There are more Christians and atheists than either which would tend to suggest that conventionally slaughtered meat ought to be the default in non-specialist outlets.

I don't assume all Muslims are extreme but they are deluded and there are people who choose to exploit them as in all faiths. JWs are a cult and I have heard of how they threaten to ostracise people who want to leave but they don't have a policy of apostasy. I live round the corner from the Woodhouse branch. I'd love to attend one of their events and heckle.

To be fair I and others in the thread have witnessed first hand appalling hygene standards in halal suppliers hence i won't touch it with a bargepoll. Not saying it affects all halal suppliers but what i've personally seen has certainly put me off for life. When the main drivers in purchasing meat across the population are either price, quality, welfare, food miles and combinations thereof when you add in an absolute, ie is it halal or not which do to extra processing costs drives up the price then it's likely that something else will give and from what i've seen quality and welfare are what suffer.

There may well be high quality suppliers of high welfare good quality halal food but there are certainly more than a few appalling suppliers.
