WeX
Great news, these ungrateful idiots will be banned from operating in the UK from Midnight tonight
Suffragette1
What does that achieve? It just drives the extermists underground. Better to have them visible where they can be monitored.

mj.scuba
Good news but they will only reappear in a couple of months under a new name. Unfortunately it won't stop the harrasment and intimidation of gays, women they don't see as being "modest" enough, people not conforming to their version of Islam, other infidel types. Would you be equally chuffed if the EDL were banned too?

No for this reason: they actively try to antagonise none Muslims but were protected by the virtue they were a legal organisation. Now when they turn up to shout abuse at returning soldiers they can be rounded up and arrested. Also, with them being made illegal, their voice is no longer credible and so no longer carries any credence. If they appear with a new name, ban them again. If you remove the word 'none' that's true of the EDL - should we ban them too in the interests of fairness?

Muslims Against Crusades amongst other things burned poppies outside the Albert hall. If the EDL burned korans for example outside a mosque I would agree with banning them. mj.scuba
Would you be equally chuffed if the EDL were banned too? Yes. Why not? Their chief is a scumbag football hooligan and they often go round smashing up shops, totally unacceptable behaviour.

It's not enough that they chant abusive provocative slogans, cause criminal damage to mosques and make threats to firebomb them?
