altus
A bit like selling people a hand full of shares in companies that the public already owned, neglecting the fact that Tory business men were getting the option to buy thousands if not millions of shares A bit like it - but more targeted at people who would normally vote Labour. Pinderson
I contend that the feeling of worthlessness and lack of pride in adults (mainly men) on some estates in Sheffield and other areas of England emanated from the Thatcher years. The man was the breadwinner in that era and even the ones who were of only average and sometimes less than average intelligence and ability could earn enough to keep themselves and their families. They derived their pride and dignity from this. Thatcher took away their ability to do this and a downward spiral ensued. Hopefully i will bottom out soon, but I am not holding my breath. They could never provide the answers, because they would never be able to understand the questions.
epiphany
Thatcher had many noble principles, but she pulled back the oversized state too quickly. She was an idealist, but the difference between her and many other idealists is she had no sense of progression.

Mecky
So your suggesting companys employ people even if there isnt actually anything for them to do. Why would they be doing nothing? They are certainly doing far less sat on the dole and not contributing to society.

That is a very cynical post. The cynics are right most of the time, unfortunately.
Jim Hardie
Or factory A makes 10,000 bars of steel at 1 ton each and factory B makes 1 bar of steel at 10,000 tonnes. Who made more ? Don't know who made more but in production terms Factory B produced a miracle.
