You haven't come up with a viable reason why it couldn't work although there probably is one. The basic fact is that to run a business, of any sort, you need a bank account and you can't get a bank account without personal details..

Getting an account without personal details is not a problem. You can use bogus address, bogus id, stolen id. It might not be very easy in the UK where we have pretty strict id requirements, but its possible. Its even easier in other places where requirements are much slacker.

Besides, you are assuming that some connection can be made between the crime, and payment. Criminals have well established means of disguising payments - transactions are layered and layered to such an extent that it can be impossible to prove what its for.

I think you are imagining that criminals use legitimate 'checkout' sites like you get on Amazon or ebay. More likely users are given instructions to make payments into an account, or accounts, that are in no way linked to the owner of the site. This money is then moved on through a network of other accounts, disguised as personal payments, funnelled through multiple front companies or withdrawn as cash or sent to bogus account somewhere in the world. No connection to the original crime exists.

I don't think the impact violent or hardcore porn is perceived to be having on people's sexual relationships is solely or even mainly the fault of the porn industry, though.

What's missing or lacking is really good quality sex education that tells young people that it is not ok to do things with your partner that they're unprepared for, or don't like, or have expressed reservations about; that it is not ok to pressure anyone into doing anything sexually that they don't want to do, and that no one has to justify their reasons for not wanting to do something; that the sex portrayed in a lot of porn is not necessarily the sex that people have in the real world (ditto, by the way, the sex portrayed in Hollywood movies, and literature, and music); that consent is a vital, ongoing issue whenever you have sex, of whatever kind; that safe sex is important, and testing for STIs vital - and so on.

With that kind of structure and grounding in place - and this could come from parents or schools, although my feeling is that making sex education statutory could help some children whose parents are never going to be able to educate them - you could watch all the hardcore kink in the world and still have healthy, mutually enjoyable sex.

I never vote in polls on SF on principal - they're rubbish.

Porn is pretty poor on the whole - it's a pale shadow (with a tacky edge) of reality and all about 'technique' without emotion.

To look at it another way it's heavy metal guitar nonsense fret wan*ery as opposed to a beautiful song sung by a beautiful voice.

You mean in the same way that "emotionless shredding" is crap compared to hearing Ritchie Blackmore RAPING a Strat? :hihi:
