And they'd be rapists, but they're not as common as women who get giddy drunk but totally in control of their faculties and the situation, lead a man to bed, feel dirty in the morning and decide (perhaps subconsciously convincing themselves) that rape took place.

This is total nonsense.

I did a big post on this after the last discussion we had on here about false rape. Go and have a read of the research rather than relying on your police mates for gossip, especially given that police officers and prosecutors have a nasty tendency to over-estimate the prevalence of false rape allegations.

No, and neither have you - alcohol is a great social lubricant.

Nevertheless some men can and do assume that 'so drunk I can't say no' means 'help yourself'.

Indeed, I have witnessed men groping comatose women at parties when i was a student. And one chap who I saw doing this and was later caught in a woman's bedroom masturbating whilst holding her underwear was cautioned by the judge and told it was just a bit of boyish high jinx.:mad:

Personally, I don't think being drunk can be seen as not capable of giving consent. I don't mean someone who is semi-conscious but someone who has had a few. This area is a mine field because a lot of people do indeed "have a few" before sex. You can't then claim, when sober, that you didn't really consent. I don't think alcohol can be used as an excuse. It's not accepted as an excuse in any other aspect of life. This scenario opens up a whole can of worms and leaves people open to all sorts of false allegations and dodgy accusations.

Please note, before you all jump on me, that I left the statement none gender specific..

Are you claiming that false claims of rape outweigh genuine claims of rape?

I do believe you are. How extraordinary.

And the conviction rates are low reflecting this, how extraordinary.

What next? Rape within marriage isn't possible?
Not within mine, what you do within yours is your business.

Ignore their opinions, based on hard experience of what they deal with? I'm not talking about the average plod who might discuss such things in the station tea bar, but plain clothes officers who deal with such cases.

Put their opinions into a context - i.e. the research - that shows that public officials who deal with rape have a tendency to over-estimate the prevalence of false rape allegations.

Stop being silly. AGAIN !

Maybe your life would be more fulfilled if you quit stalking users.

having sex with comatose females.

Who in their right mind would want that? It's as close to necrophilia as to make no difference.

For once, I'm inclined to agree:o.
