Also, I'm not at all threatened by pubic hair, that is absolutely ridiculous. Besides, its not just women, I've been asked to shave down there as well, some ladies seem to prefer shaved male genitalia as well.

It's entirely subjective, but I agree that no one should be made to feel wrong for preferring the aesthetics of no pubic hair. Similarly, I don't think any woman should feel pressured by porn, a partner or society in general to shave if she doesn't want to (which I'm sure we all agree on).

 

I don't think a woman can be considered any more or less sexually empowered by what grooming routine she chooses to follow.

I don't think it's as straightforward as that (although it may be in some cases). I tend to think it's part of the objectification thing - pubes are an outward sign of female sexuality and power. Easier to approach/dominate objectify a woman if you take away that mystique, make her comform to the pornographically stereotypical smooth, pouting, supplicant nymphet?

Plus it's the genetalia that is good to look at. The less hair there is, the easier it is to see it.
