I make of it that they are as guilty as everyone else of stereotyping what a lesbian should look like, which you've got to admit is a bit sad.

 

But they know more than anyone what real lesbians look like. My friend who was the greatest critic is very femme. There was a UK version, the name escapes me, which a friend of mine was a scriptwriter for. I think that got panned by the critics.

I have read about strippers getting more tips when they ovulate, it highlights how much pheromones play an important role in sexual attraction (as opposed to physical attraction). In the 80s there was craze for douching which was originated in the States. But then again, this is a nation which freaked at the sight of female nipple and where male circumcision is standard for 'hygiene' reasons. The differences in Italian porn is also very interesting. There's no proven connection between pubes and pheromones. It's odd that the article quotes the study into lap dancers who earned more when ovulating, with a marked difference between those on the pill and those not on the pill.

Perhaps they were referring to the actors' behaviour and interactions, as dictated by the writing and the actors' familiarity and degree of comfort with lesbian sexuality.

 

But then for the most part expecting realistic folk of any orientation in a soapy American TV programme is akin to expecting to see proper lab science in an episode of Fringe.
