Of course it's not a patch on reality, but it's not supposed to be. It's mostly a caricature of sex and I agree that a lot of it is awful (a lot of heterosexual porn, which I tend to avoid, can be pretty demeaning & really should be put in the male domination category) but there is amateur porn that isn't about performing for the cameras or partaking in humiliating acts.

Personal thoughts and fantasies, porn, a partner - there's nothing wrong with using every crayon in the box, and there's also nothing wrong with not wanting to. :)

My bold. The problem is when impressionable youths consume porn before they have sex and benchmark the porn as being the norm. Porn has had a huge impact on girls and women and the ever increasing procedures such as breast implants, labiaplasty, Brazilians, shaved genitals etc etc. Apparently, according to some research that I read, young girls are finding themselves pressurised into anal sex, which they hate*, as a result of porn too.

Most porn that I have seen is laughable. Totally predicable and about as sexy as sitting in a bath of cold porridge.

*point of clarification, not all young girls hate sex, however, this study cited those who do and said they felt pressurised as a result of their partners viewing porn.

I've always wondered why the police can't close the dodgy sites down. They receive subscriptions through customers via credit and debit cards. Why can't the police just close the bank accounts down? It wouldn't be difficult to subscribe then track the payment, with the help of the bank. I know they'd just start again with another account, but close this down as well.

The police tracked people down people who posted on facebook during the riots, why not these people? Perhaps someone could explain...?

If it's porn where the 'stars' are forced into the situation, drugged, etc, then yeah, this suggests a weird element to me... Sometimes difficult to tell if they're using trafficked/drugged people too... Its a mine field really, as it does attract a seedy element...

That's very true, which adds another dimension to the unsavory side of porn. The problem is for those with a social conscience to source and distinguish the 'ethical'' porn with free range 'actors' from that using trafficked and drugged ones. Seeing as on the whole, porn films have rather limited and minimal scripts, it's not always evident.:(

ETA:

In search of fresh thrills, the adult film industry is steadily moving on from the representation of lust to that of loathing, with sex as war by other means. What I don’t understand is how anyone who voices concern about that can be called “man-hating”. Men and women are fated to be in society together, and neither gender is disappearing any time soon. Can the exposure of a generation of boys to misogynist, angry pornography, frequently before they have had any actual sexual encounters with real girls, end up as anything but potentially humiliating and confusing for either sex?

The phenomenon is too influential simply to be a matter of private taste, and nor is unease about it restricted to women. Increasing numbers of men are now questioning exactly where the industry is taking its consumers and their relationships in the real world. If you’re wedded to hard-core porn, then at least stop pretending that the argument is still just about cheeky nude pictures and old-fashioned, prudish opponents. Porn actors, to their credit, are mostly pretty straight-talking. Porn consumers aren’t. So perhaps they could tell us why so many devotees now apparently want to watch films of very young-looking girls being explicitly hurt and humiliated. Or maybe that’s just always someone else’s kink.

From the same article:

The former porn actress and doctor to the industry, Dr Sharon Mitchell, has described some of the results of the type and duration of sex demanded by directors: “I sit there everyday and I sew up anal tears and anal prolapse and the physical conditions of what people are putting their body through is getting very, very far away from sexuality as we know it.” Is this what sexual liberation was meant to look like?

How depressing.
