Bulgarian
Yep, just a shame that if you go then, everything's closed because the tourist season's finished. the area is still beautifull without the shops being open.
Alcoblog
Start at Tideswell Dale, and take the walk through the valley to Monsal Head...cant beat it... I'll go along with that ... Monsal's brilliant ... loads of fantastic walks (not necessarily the obvious ones) The walk from Baslow along Curbar edge to the Chequers at Froggatt (and back) is pretty stunning too. Avoid places like Bakewell at all cost ... far too commercialised with rubbish pubs and shops (the motorcycle museum's worth a visit though if you like that sort of thing) Same applies to Castleton (no Bakewell tarts but plenty of cheap purple rock) Chatsworth is great, especially the gardens, the walk round the estate is lovely especially in the snow ... the farm shop's a must for Christmas fayre! ... then there's Lathkill ... Redmires ... Ladybower ... everywhere!

Monsal Head/Dale is an all time favourite of mine, I love it up there. Another is Leash Fen I regularly take the dog over there as it is walking distance from my home and abundant in wildlife, particular highlights include the resident short eared owls and just recently a great grey shrike. Good evening your eminence I see you have very good taste as usual regarding your choice of habitat. I have to add note of caution though when taking the path through the farm from Edale over Mam Tor on a windy day when the cows suddenly have a call of nature of the liquid variety:hihi::hihi:
