BMA want the government to ban smoking in your car..

Recommended Posts

Not a rational argument.Just because they "might" spend it on something else does not mean it goes straight into government coffers. What luxury items are they going to buy that are taxed at 85%?.

As for futile operations do only smokers get ill?.A smoker who has the courtesy of dying of heart disease in their 50`s costs the NHS a lot less than a non smoker dying of Alzheimer’s in their 80`s.Not to mention the cost of savings towards the state pensions from dying many years younger.

If everyone suddenly quit tomorrow they are still going to die of something.

Should the NHS stop all futile operations on smokers?.Where would you stop. What about fat people, drug users, alcoholics.

Some people are not going to be happy until we live in a completely controlled state where there is no freedom of choice. It`s a very sad world we are living in right now.

By spending they are stimulating demand and creating jobs.Remember that growing tobacco is done overseas creating no work in the UK.The land is released to grow food.thus a virtuous scenario and entirely rational.Only an irrational person could attempt to justify smoking.I dont think those who are addicted envy your alleged freedom of choice. It is nice to think that people who stop smoking can contemplate some alternative source of their demise.

Tell the passive smoking argument to Roy Castle's family. After the smoker has gone is silly tho. True.

Its true that Roy Castle died of lung cancer but no link to passive smoking has ever been proven, its just his take on the subject while he was ill. He worked in smoke filled clubs so its possible that it may have affected him but there is no way of telling or proving positive that smoke was the cause.

Many people die from lung cancer without ever being subjected to smoking or passive smoke so any causality is just guesswork.

Obviously a lead up to banning smoking in homes. I can see it now. All homes will be required to install detectors specially programed to identify tobacco smoke.

S.N.O.T (Smoke Nazi Operations Technicians) will be able to monitor smoking activity in any home from their central base and will dispatch units to deal with violators.

Sound ridiculous? Maybe so but dont be surprised at what these power hungry little Hitlers are capable of getting up to

Actually Hitler was a chain smoker privately, and if you knew anything about right-wing libertarianism you would recognise they wholly favour smoking without duties etc.Calling people who really care about others little Hitlers sounds quite ignorant and childish, and worst of all cliched.

Seemed to kill those poor dogs who were forced to smoke and later die in agony.

You cannnot say these people were never exposed to smoke as you cannot prove a negative, one of the basic tenets of logic and scientific deduction.

This thread is about the BMA wanting to ban smoking in cars. Obviously you have little or no idea about where the limits to invasion of personal privacy should be drawn.

It's perfectly fine to ban smoking in public buildings and other appropriate places but in personally owned private cars just stupid and dictatorial as anyone with a grain of common sense should realize

Hitler never smoked either. He was also a vegetarian. You ever seen a vegetarian who smokes. I haven't.
