My bold. Are you sure they cancelled his insurance or did they pay out for the fire and then declare no insurable interest? If they cancelled his insurance he will have to declare that along with the fire to his next insurance company which would mean he would probably need a specialist high risk insurer (depends on the reason why they cancelled)if the insurance paid out for the car and declared no further insurable interest (like when the car is written off) then he would only have to declare the fire which would be a normal claim. Alot of the comparison sites make certain 'assumptions' when you ask for quotes and one of those is often that you have never had insurance declined or cancelled.

he made the claim for the fire in august and was paid out quickly and he was told there was no problems at all but on the 23rd oct they cancelled insurence the policeman who was very nice n understanding rang quickfit insurance who openly admitted theyd not even contacted him too tell him his insurance was going too be cancelled its quickfit who r at fault and he is sueing them through the court and also contesting the ticket of 6 points and 200 pound fine but that doesnt help him now lol

Ahh then he's stuck. It's risky not declaring he had his insurance cancelled to a new insurer just in case he had to make a claim. They don't check when you take out a policy but if you make a claim, they check a database, and won't pay out because he didn't provide correct information when he started the policy. They won't care that it's someone else who made the initial mistake they will just void the policy. So his only realistic option is to declare the cancelled insurance which will bump his premiums up and rule a few big insurers out for him. I know everyone complains about the price of insurance but this could really price him out of driving so I would suggest that he contact http://www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk/

to sort out the insurance he got cancelled and they will also be able to give accurate advice about what he should declare to his next insurers. It does seem long winded but premiums for people who have a combination of points/ driving offence/ cancelled insurance are often in the thousands.

Ahhh Kwikfit insurance.

They refused to insure me (following a cheap quote on the comparison website) as my car had been 'modified'.

The modification?

Well, I had replaced the (faulty) car radio/cd player with an aftermarket one from Argos that cost about £60.

They ring me up every year trying to get my business to which I tell them to, well, you can imagine lol
