The British constitution Group

not sure if it was the lack of a constitution which saved us from all that.

 

there are all sorts of reasons:

 

the vast majority see political extremists as someone to laugh at rather than support

 

we also got rid of an absolute monarchy several hundred years before most of the rest of europe

 

the revolutions in europe scared the elite into making concessions to the poor which removed a lot of the economic and political drivers for a revolution.

 

Fair point, I guess I did overstate things a bit but my point still stands that we have a very stable system of government and the lack of a written constitution does not make it easier for extremists to tack over.
