mj.scuba
The EU had recently commissioned a documentary, following an Afghan woman imprisoned for "moral crimes". Her crime was being raped. She was sentanced to two years imprisonment. Upon appeal it was increased to 12 years. She will be pardoned however, after agreeing to marry her rapist. A choice of years in prison, or a life of abuse by her rapist husband. What a choice to have to make. The EU has decided to censor it's own documentary on this by blocking it's release, apparently for fear of the safety of the women involved. Human rights activists argue the abuse needs to be exposed. One thing is clear, the face of the "moderate" Karzai government, is little different to that of the Taliban. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-15678935 http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/standard/article-24009969-eu-wants-to-ban-my-film-on-victims-of-rape-in-afghanistan.do http://www.thefreshoutlook.com/?p=6708 http://english.alarabiya.net/articles/2011/11/16/177512.html http://www.trust.org/alertnet/news/eu-tries-to-block-film-exposing-abuse-of-afghan-women

mafya
if that is true that is disgusting :/ Absolutely appauling, doesn't look like much has changed. Our armed forces are over there to prevent this sort of thing happening, remember all the fuss about how women are forced to wear the burka etc and yet even with our troops present this kind of behavior goes on. I agree absolutely appalling and disgusting.

It'll be cleaned up because our muslim friends who reside in Europe, can't be seen in this light; it will portray them in a bad light and will cause all kinds of social problems.
