I think the US nation state is dieing and has been for quite some time. US corporations however are doing very well, have become international in nature and no longer have any commitment to or interest in the US as a nation. The US is a dieing empire with more weapons than the rest of the world combined. The question is will the US go down without a fight? One slight problem with that theory, the "emerging markets" all have similar growth plans to China, they are primarilly competitors not customers. Oh, and the fact that in its rush for growth by selling mass produced crap to the west while lending us loads of their money has devastated their air and water, both of which are hideously polluted. ANGELFIRE1 Posted November 17, 2011 Share Posted November 17, 2011 I think that starting a war with the most populous country on earth, which just happens to control much of the whole world's manufacturing, would be an intensely stupid thing to do. Even if China were to start a war I'd try to find a way out diplomatically (but then again, I'm a pacifist and think that the only way that we can survive war in the atomic age is by diplomacy).
