Another reason to legalise drugs

Recommended Posts

It's a lot harder than growing veg.

No, it's easier to grow than a lot of other vegetables.

People would still rather buy it to save the hassle.

It'd depend on how high the duty was set whether they bought it legally or kept going to their local dealer. It just has to be worthwhile for a few chaps to fill large greenhouses full & not pay duty on it for the black market & most of it's problems to survive.

If it was like tobacco, so you could buy an ounce for less than £10 then you'd be right, it'd be easier to buy the mass produced stuff from the shop. I doubt the duty would be set that low even if it was ever legalised, if it's set much higher then there is still room for a black market - especially as growing & importing it would be less risky (therefore less expensive).

Its the buyer who supports the lowlife who deal drugs and then use their funds to develop other criminal activity such as people smuggling, prostitution and child pornography.I would rather get an allotment;I have given up dope and now grow beet root and parsnips.

Thank you for a sensible answer.

I don't think drug dealers are to blame for people smuggling and child pornography though are they? With regard to prostitution, that should be legal too.

It's the government that created these 'lowlife who deal drugs' as you put it.

If they weren't illegal, it'd just be your local chemist, supermarket or off license selling drugs.

It'd take a lot of the money out of being a criminal.

There will always be a market for drugs, there is no way to stop people wanting to buy them, if they're illegal then they'll be supplied by criminals.

I've grown both and the veg was much easier and much cheaper.

It cost me £25 for 5 female seeds and only 2 actually went into bud.

I don't know this for sure but surely the government could sell cannabis for less than todays street value and still tax it heavily?!

I think you will find that many dealers are criminals and look to make easy money, whether through drugs or other activities. All,businesses look to expand aay from their core activity lest it should contract ie they diversify for security.

You weren't doing it right

They could sell it for much less than today's street price, most of the price is because it's illegal. It could be a similar price to tobacco, if the duty & the legal controls on it were similar, worldwide.

It wont happen though, not in a million years.

Dealers, criminals? Really?

Professional criminals aren't all stupid you know? They apply their trsid, just like a business man. I doubt you will find many drug dealers who also run child porno rings.

Anyway, take the drugs out of their hands and put them into the governments hands. How can that be a bad idea?

Maybe it was due to my lack of experience then.

I really do think the day will come when we will see cannabis legalised though. Might take a long time but I think it's coming.

It wont happen because too much money is made by keeping it illegal.

More money could be made overall if they were legal, but it'd be made by different people & the people that benefit from it now pay our politicians well.
