Another reason to legalise drugs

Recommended Posts

Fair enough, lets try that and see if it works. I'm not convinced it will.

How do we globally legalise drugs then?

You're asking a musician to do a politician's job!

Take alcohol prohibition in the America between the 1920's and 30's.

What did banning it do? It created a black market and made people like Al Capone millionaires! A bit like illegal drugs are doing for criminals today.

Yes it is. A dangerous but legal drug

Drugs are illegal because governments have no economic interest in legalising them.

Money is the main criteria for legalising a drug...or not.

But governments could still tax drugs and sell them for less than street value.

Of course.

But people can grow cannabis in their bathtubs it's cheaper than buying it from stores (if it's legal)...they can't grow tobacco (at least I have never met someone who does it), they have to buy it and government gets money through tax.

It's not as simple as that though because you can only smoke female plants. It's impossible to tell when they are in seed form which is male and which is female. So if you are growing your own it's much easier to buy female seeds. They aren't cheap!

Besides, people can brew their own alcohol, beer and wine, but people still buy it from supermarkets. Convenience wins every time.
