Suffragette1
One thing that I have learned since I started using SF is how few people can actually debate properly without resorting to ad hominem attacks. Very few people are able to convey the thought processes that underpin their views or defend them either. Oxford Debating Society need not worry. This came as a huge shock to me. Racists and extreme right wingers should be allowed to stay and be challenged. If they're all banned and/or driven away to specialist sites with like minded folk, then there is no hope in them ever rethinking their views. Ms Macbeth
Assuming they don't have more than one account, I used to moderate a forum and admin allowed all moderators to have an account for discussion and one for moderating. We each have one account. If we post an opinion on a thread we don't moderate it, other than removing really offensive language if there aren't any other mods around to do it. Frank Sidney
Its whatever rocks your boat, what you find the most interesting...The more heated the better really. Personally I can't stand debates about education or European politics. Both very important, but both boring to me...

My personal view is that the life of threads is usually up to the members. If a topic is discussed without posting (for example) personal insults, offensive language, accusations, threats, naming and shaming, then a thread can run its natural course. Its entirely up to those who post on it.

Another former bannee under a new alias. And so it continues . . . On a serious note, I agree with your personal view, which is mine too.
ANGELFIRE1
haha nice try, and 10 points for being an obsessive stalker how many posts have i got? how many political threads / posts would the percentage be? what about the myriad of posters that have say 5 posts and ALL posts are in the same type of threads or 5 threads started? as i said above i post in all sorts of threads / sections how old are some of those threads? it seems to me theres more and more threads on the same subjects appearing lately, and "users" appearing posting in em the point is i believe theres people ACTIVELY using the forum as a platform, im not sure i do, yes im on one side but i dip in and out of them for example how many political threads have i posted in today? two that got deleted..........which were purely to say the thread was of no importance When in a hole, it's best to stop digging.
