Three musicians from the island of Crete bring a unique and dynamic sound to the interpretation of Greek traditional music. George Zacharioudakis revives the almost extinct Cretan flutes (pipes and whistles) and adapts cane and metal flutes from other traditions (Western flute, Indian bansuri, Celtic whistles) in the body of Greek music. Dimitris Sideris focuses on the Cretan lute and extends its technique by adapting elements from related string instruments. John Papatzanis extends the technical capabilities of the ancient Cretan daouli as well as incorporating other traditional percussions (Persian tombak, Indian udu-ghatam, Middle Eastern frame drums).

Motivated by their common love and respect for Cretan music, they have created a world music trio and they endeavour to develop an alternative sound style. Having an extensive Cretan repertoire as their basis, they explore other Greek music idioms and improvisations. Individually and as a group they have been performing for many years now in contrasting contexts ranging from traditional local festivities to concert halls.
