PeteMorris
Slightly off tangent I know. But does anyone watch the BBC local news with Krista whatername and Paul the weatherman? Is it my imagination or do they loathe one another? It's definitely not jovial banter! Actually "paul the weatherman" gets it pretty much right most of the time! CXC3000
....a complete waste of time and money. What is the point of an organisation that cost millions yet cannot predict the weather for more than a few short hours in advance. The hurricanes of '87, the "barbecue" summer of 2010, snow in October 2011... Where did that happen ?

Tony
Fair comment, but to have the total inability to predict anything with any accuracy for more than (say) 6 hours is a total waste of resources. Not if you are piloting an aeroplane or navigating a boat. The weather over the next 6 hours can be a matter of life or death, and that's why the Met Office is still a part of the MOD and most of the weather stations are on airfields and in the sea. The Met Office is concerned with loftier things than your BBQ plans for next weekend. You just need to get it in perspective and take anything beyond 4 days as a statistical guess - just like the Met Office do.
