SiSiSi
Why do some religions consider pigs unclean? I for one have never seen a cow wipe its bottom. I don't reckon that chickens spend a great deal of toilet paper either.
HeadingNorth
Why do some religions consider pigs unclean? Keeping pork on the shelf in hot countries where refrigeration has not yet been invented, is a seriously bad idea.

Snook
It's the same as the Bible saying you can't eat shellfish. It's probably because a lot of people that did got very ill or died. I think the Bible also says you can't eat Camel?!
Snook
More than beef? But did they eat a lot of beef? Cows need grazing land and are more useful and ecconomical for producing milk rather than meat when grazing land is at a premium.
HeadingNorth
More than beef? Pork will fall prey to bacteria much more quickly. By and large, the animals proscribed in the Bible and the Qu'ran are precisely those that are most likely to give you food poisoning in a pre-industrial semi-tropical climate.
