Guest
The standard £89 kindle has wifi, the more expensive model has 3g as well For anyone buying second-hand, remember that the generation of Kindle (with a keyboard) just prior to the newly-released Kindle models had two versions: one with WiFi and one with 3G. As such, not all of the older 'Keyboard Kindles' have 3G. just ordered the new kindle for £89 - know nowt about them - (xmas pezzie for my kid) - how do you download other than from amazon? You can connect the Kindle to your computer using the microUSB cable, and then treat it like any other storage device: drag and drop the files you've downloaded to your computer onto the Kindle using Windows Explorer. Alternatively, use an ebook management tool like Calibre (linked to above). How you download might depend on the site you're downloading from; here, for example, you can just click on the appropriate link, or right-click and choose 'save link as' (in Firefox; I can't recall if the menu options are different in IE etc). To be fair, unless you have specialist needs or eclectic tastes you'll just use Amazon, because you won't need anything else.
mattrialeo
I'm wanting to buy someone a kindle for Christmas. Does anyone know anywhere it's on offer etc? Tradescanthia
I've been looking, the price seems to be stuck at just over £80. I'm going to give the person vouchers to the current value. Hopefully prices will take a dive in the new year.
BarryRiley
As far as I know, as with the iPad, since they are offered direct from the company all prices will be the same, aside from the odd store adding £5-£10 on to see if they can get away with it
