Singapore visa.

Recommended Posts

Thinking of going to Singapore in the near future and if I get a Singaporean Visa will this allow us to travel around the rest of Malaysia or must we get a Malaysian visa?

What sort of visa? You don't need a visa for Singapore, provided you got a UK passport, for a tourist visa. Stamp upon entry.

As for Malaysia, being a different country, you will need a separate visa.

Singapore is not part of Malaysia, there were moves afoot to Federate them together as a Union but they eventually came to naught when the Malays realised that the Chinese, who are 75% of Singapore but only 25% of Malaysia, would likely exert too much influence for their liking.

relations between the two are not all that great actually, though that won't affect you as a tourist. You don't need any sort of visa to enter the following south east Asian countries, which is 30 days for Singapore, 90 days for Malaysia, 30 days for Brunei, 30 days for Thailand (unless arriving by land, when it's 15), 21 for Indonesia and the Philippines. You don't get a visa for these, what you get is a Visa EXEMPT stamp in your passport on arrival. Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, and Myanmar you need a Visa.

this applies for all EU nationalities. Some other nationalities, like say Mexicans for example, need a Visa say to enter Thailand when EU nationals do not.
