MrSmith
You are just being daft now. Who are they being protected from, for heavens sake. From anyone that wants to take away their right to self determination.
Balpin
Their intentions were irrelevant, they were in no place to refuse when the lease on The New Territories expired. Nonsense. Send Gunboats into Macao and Pekin as we did previously. They would not dare defy us. A man with the authority and dominance of Chris Patten to represent us, who dare stare him down. Next doors cat maybe.

Do they even have elections? They do not return an MP.

They are completely under control of the military. Unless you have been there and seen it you cannot understand.

I've been there. It's full of very nice British people who look as if they've stepped out of the 1950's. That's what they want. Why should anyone seek to overrule their wishes? nubile
I hope we really give them something to remember if they invade again.
Cyclone
To be honest, after a point it boils down to raw military spending. The UK spends ten times as much as Argentina. Argentina loses. The massive distance between the theatre of operations and here, and the short distance to Argentina renders most of our spending irrelevant though.
