Falkland Islands Tension increase

Recommended Posts

come to add the clarity only a Hollywood actor can bring to the heated historical issue of who owns the Falkland Islands..when he said ''The world today is not going to tolerate any ludicrous and archaic commitment to colonialist ideology,'' .

was he referring to the argentinians treatment of the indegenous indians of argentina?

Hmm, it seems hollywood actors think they are experts on the subject too.

Thats the last Sean Penn film I pay to see. I dont think I will be missing much though.

Team America and the Film Actors Guild (FAG) springs to mind. I believe Sean Penn was in that too :D

It's the first time I've read the daily mail after following the links. What an eye opener. I was reading it and before I knew I was chuntering away "bloody Sean Penn calling us names, having a go at Simon Weston ...." getting more and more angry. I am ashamed.

Sean Penn is indeed an idiot but has no more influence on Argentinian foreign policy than I do. Even Cameron isnt getting that wound up. A storm in an egg cup.

But let's hope arec baldrin doesn't get involved or it's curtains for us all........

your right, but there is one major difference. Sean Penn only has to open his mouth and it will get reported, you or I would be ignored as a crack pot.

Penn is a famous hollywood star, who through his fame can hold influence over millions of people, even when he is wrong. If all you hear is one side of an argument, many people will form an opinion on these grounds.

This guy is being an idiot along with Argentina. We know it because we know both sides of the argument, but don't for one minute thin others are as well informed as you or I on the subject.

It's now reported that the Falkland Islands are now going to hold a referendum on whether they will stay British. This will send a message out to the rest of the world that the future of the Falklands rests in the hand of the Falkland Islanders and nobody else.

The right of self determination is one of the most basic rights. I don't expect Argentina to respect this right though.
