Arthur Scargill makes me proud to be English!

Job seeker, 21, with 3 A-levels and 10 GCSEs, kills herself after she was rejected for 200 jobs

I lost track of the different types of jobs she applied for. It was really hard seeing her confidence suffer after each rejection. She just wanted to work and earn some cash. I didn't realise how hard it would be to get a job.'

She asked supermarkets, including Tesco, for work stacking shelves or at check-ins and visited shops such as WH Smith and McDonald's inquiring in vain about sales positions.

When I read stories like this and know people that will do anything for a job, it makes me wonder where the myth that our young won’t work comes from.

And just to keep it on topic Arthur Scargill was an asshole.

There are many great young kids. The majority in fact.

My point is that the welfare system has created a situation were too many young people, usually non academic, are trapped into a dependency culture. The East Europeans and others who have come here have not had such over generous patronising welfare systems and these people have followed the work. They are happier, fitter, more positive as a result of this.

There is work in this country, in all forms of service industry, such as hospitaility, security, cleaning, call centres etc. They tend to be in the south of England, so, follow the work. The East Europeans have shown us the way.

That’s all well and good but for every immigrant following the work and finding a job there is another one homeless that can’t find the work, charities then have to step in the help them get back home.

Thousands of EU immigrants homeless in the UK'

THOUSANDS of migrants from the newest EU member states are homeless in the UK and Ireland after the dream of better lives turned sour, it was claimed today.

And just to keep it on topic again Arthur Scargill is still an asshole.

I worked at a Distribution Centre when it opened. We sat on induction day and listened to each other's histories. A thoroughly decent collection of ex-miners, shop workers, and of course a few dozen Polish men. All of them great workers and people, glad for a secure future. Then the first xmas it was open they took on a large group of xmas temp staff, most of them sent from the dole queues of Maltby and Worksop. I have never seen a bigger bunch of ignorant, workshy losers. To these people, the idea of doing a days work for 8 hours and then getting paid for it was clearly beneath them. The fact that there are so many people like these around is the reason we have a demand for migrant workers.

After being made redundant,i had to make an appointment to visit the job centre on West Street. This was the first time in 30+ years and came as a shock.Firstly i was met by a lady who had at least 3 security guards behind her.I thought id entered a niteclub or something.

I had some form filling to do,before i saw anyone. When i did get seated in front of a nice lady who understood my plight. All i wanted was a job.

On the next desk was a young oik who was telling the other lady behind the desk, that he couldnt accept this job because it was two buses away and the other job he was offered was turned down flat because he didnt ''get ont wit gaffer''.At this point id lost track of what the lady at my was saying to me.

The point im making is.In an earlier debate a chap was saying how the mining communities had been left devastated by the collapse of the mining industry.

Get real. The mining industry collapsed 2 decades ago.People need to change and adopt a different work ethic.

Mining communities seem to be very insular and dont see the bigger picture of change.

Has anyone seen or heard of Mr Arthur Scargill for the last two decades.

Yes, on 14 May 2011, when it was reported that

"Miners' union takes legal action to evict Arthur Scargill from his £1.5m luxury apartment which costs them £34,000 per year".

Hi Jeff.

I wonder how many ex-miners know about this information. This deluded socialist might know what he put his members through in 1984-85 now.

But i guess not because he's got his own house in Barnsley to fall back on.

See, even his own union is turning on him.Pity he wasnt hit over the head with something heavy at Orgreave.
