hannah_dru
I'm in my 40's, haven't been in town for months (years regularly) and most of my friends have moved away or [re]married, so I was thinking of going out, but was concerned that established groups, as elsewhere, might be a bit cliquey and me too old? :-D I definitely don't think you're too old, personally I get on better with older people (my best friend is 45). aelfheah
Thanks, Hannah, not that I feel, look or 'am' my age, which doesn't matter usually. t's just a case of me finding the 'right' night out on here, as much of town was always catering for the 'young'. I have that problem anyway because I much prefer sitting in a pub to going clubbing.
Sparkler61
It would be good to see some new faces at the Harlequin on Monday. I've only been twice but I was made to feel welcome both times, everyone is friendly and chatty and not cliquey at all. I joined the Forum to make new friends and to maybe meet up but it's the initial getting together that's the hardest bit. I think if more of the people who are alone and looking for socialising, then the Forum meet is a good place to start, friendships may then branch out. Look forward to seeing you!!! hennypenny
I have been going to the forum meets for the last year, since my husband died, and have really enjoyed them and met some lovely people. There isn't really an optimum age at meets - I am 52, and there have been people older than me and much younger at the meets over the last year. Give a forum meet a go, you might just enjoy them
aelfheah
Thanks, Henny. I'll keep my eyes open for the next pub meet, I'm not much into clubs!
