fruitisbad
Woo just got an unexpected tax rebate cheque through the post. That's christmas sorted! incredibly good timing. anyone else had one through? I'm useless at saving so it works out quite well for the tax man to do it for me. LSMBuilders
Im in the unexpected rebate club too! Got £500 back which i over paid in 2005! six years to realise their mistake doesnt seem bad for HMRC. Perfect timing though!
fruitisbad
haha yeah mine must have been from ages ago. I like how when they owe you money it takes an age to sort out, but if you owe them they don't half come down hard on you
epiphany
Yeh I had one through too. It was from 05/06 as well. It's nice but I remember struggling (in that very British sense of the word) that year so am annoyed I didn't rectify it at the time!
truman
Aren't you responsible for your own tax affairs? Don't you ever check your p60's etc..? Not having a go ..genuine questions...how many people bother to check their tax code is correct etc etc..?
Nataliie
I had one at the beginning of the year for £800 from 2008.. Wish I'd got it now instead though, I never thought about saving it and just splurged booo Oh and I've never checked my tax code.. I'll eventually get a pleasant surprise when I get it back. Nataliie
so many times when starting work, particularly with agencies, they just bung you on an emergency tax code, if it's a short contract they don't always have time to adjust it so I just end up getting a rebate. When I left school I had a lot of agency work, and always got put on emergency tax! But the money I got back from 2008, was a perm job and not agency. Or a shock when they ask for the underpayment... How often do you think it is that they don't take enough money though?
