TheGuy
Back then there was affordable housing. And jobs. You try to bring the issue of housing into every thread you comment in don't you?
truman
And the British ethos is to find the tiniest ****hole you can find and mortgage yourself up to the hilt, work for twenty five to thirty years to buy the shoebox (or perhaps even a 25% share of it), then sell it to pay for your old age care. No generalisation there then.....
chem1st
You try to bring the issue of housing into every thread you comment in don't you? When people are on about the economy and quality of life it is very very relevant.
Cyclone
capacity to accommodate you in the resit year They'd have to fail you for you to do a resit, not that resits are always available for a final year. Make your mind up, do they refuse to fail you, or do they deliberately fail you so that you can resit. It can't be both and rolling your eyes won't alter that. Cyclone
Yes - expectations are MUCH higher, resulting in a much higher stress level for all concerned when you were expected to leave school at 16 and till bash in a local shop, follow your dad down the pits, or stay at home and have kids, you could just get on with life - nowadays you're EXPECTED to get a degree, and do something with your life, so how many kids are set up for failure instead of being happy with what they're actually capable of and happy doing? Are you saying that this is life being harder? Or just that people think it's harder because they want more?

Nobody is talking about the economy, this is about the comments made by twiggy and she wasn't talking about housing.

Cyclone
It was in the telegraph, I posted her entire comment (as reported) though.
MrMoran
Twiggy (the retired fashion model) is in the news today I don't quite understand her point, when she was a teen (in the 60's) the proportion of people able to go to university was far lower than it is today, 80 to 90 percent lower I think! She's entitled to an opinion of course, but I don't see why the main stream media is bothering to report it since she doesn't appear to understand the basic facts behind the subject... Shes an idiot. Another 'celeb' who thinks cos they are sort of in the public eye then their opinion is worth something.
