Imagine your whole identity being a fake? imagine having no culture, no history etc. For some it wouldn't be a problem, but a lot of people over a couple of generations have invested a lot of time and money into creating the 'palestinian' story - one can understand their anger at it being exposed so publicly. Fair enough but also most of the culture that has developed since came from the frontier settler experience. The kind of experience that developed the strong feeling of independence and self reliance, the spirit of entrepreneurship and the willingness to take chances which marks the Amercan character as different from his/her European forebears. However, much of American culture was brought in by the immigrants from Europe and elsewhere. Try pop music, with it's origins in African slave culture, or cowboy culture with it's Spanish roots, or Halloween, which you mention, that has its origins in paganism, which goes way back to early European cultures (if not even further back). So, the best you can say is that the Amercians are good at fixing on something that someone else came up with, and giving it their own spin. It's bizarre to say they are a modern invented people. Sorry, you're wrong. The Philistines are not related to Palestinians. The name confuses many people, but there is no relation.
