Tony
Have you noticed a rise in the number of fake £1 coins? The Royal Mint reckon that it's around 1 in 20 but usually around half of thosein my pocket seem to fit the bill as a fake. How many have you got right now? WeX
our coinage changes so often, its no wonder people don't notice the fakes. on a similar subject. I like the new Canadian bank notes made of plastic with see-through panels. http://www.bankofcanada.ca/banknotes/

splodgeyAl
Does "genuine" mean that it has a value of something other than that of a similar metal disc?

pfifes
I think it depends where you're getting your change from. I've noticed them after getting change from petrol stations, taxis, buses and pubs mainly. Don't seem to be nearly as many in the change from shops. I got one in a pub ……… you could see it was silver where the paint was coming off, I gave it them back and told them it was fake………. They just put it back in the till and gave me a different one.
