russ74
can anyone recommend me somewhere I can take some curtains to remove about 3ft off their length as they drape in front of the radiators and in winter all the heat from the radiators goes into the gap between them and the double glazing and I cannot tuck them behind the rads to drive the heat inside. I am in S10 so does anyone have a recommendation as to who to contact for this? I dont have a sewing machine / knowledge / skill / inclination etc to even attempt this myself! Sparkler61
Try a shop called 'Iish' on Woodseats, Tel. 2507137, but my daughter says she thinks they have changed their name. They do clothes alterations, they might be able to help with your curtains.

Don't most dry cleaners have a seamstress on staff ?
Littlepink
Could you alter them yourself and use wonderwebb?
cgksheff
Could you alter them yourself and use wonderwebb? Being no skilled sewer myself, I would second this. Cut them off and fold back a few inches. Iron it first to get the 'hem' lined right. Put in the webby stuff and iron it to glue. Easy Peasy. RootsBooster
I don't think it's a boring thread! It could do with more explosions and car chases though.

I always assumed you were male cgksheff , I'm not sure why I did but with this reply I'm not so sure . It's made me realise how much I assume just by someone's name on SF . Very thought provoking ......

JackLakeland
Why don't you raise the curtain pole. That would solve the problem.
