taxman
Its just a uniform time to move on from the war it was a long long time ago. It's not really just a uniform. It's also a symbol of pure unadulterated evil, and not in a funny Dennis Wheatley, Hammer House of Horror way.
andyofborg
I think there is a difference between, for example Allo Allo or Fawlty Towers doing humorous impersonations of Nazis, and some tosspot on a stag do dressing up, seigheiling and singing pro Nazi songs, which I believe to have been the case here. you do have to wonder why someone would want to assocate his wedding with people who could do this http://www.jewishgen.org/ForgottenCamps/Camps/RavensbruckEng.html i'm not sure i'd be terribly happy if my fiance was "into" this sort of thing. Crass insensitivity at best. I'm not sure the Tory bloke should have lost his Government position though, just because he happened to be in the company of a git. if he cant tell the difference between right and wrong on this scale then he certainly should have lost his job. Yes, it's a pity Smarmy Dave or Lapdog hadn't been there too.

But, and I'm happy to be corrected,...it wasn't his wedding. He was a guest and was photographed with someone wearing the uniform. I'm not sure he can be held accountable for attending a function to which a moron had been invited. He wasn't siegheiling or singing...or was he? If he was then I'm in full agreement with you. taxman
This report suggests he hired the uniforms In which case he is a complete (expletive) and I agree with his sacking
ronthenekred
Tend to find the people wearing the uniform the object of humour..even if they take themselves seriously. I don't think a piece of garb did any harm just the robotic machines that wore them. On a point of dress, imo the SS were the best dressed outfit of all warring factions. andyofborg
I think this "outrage" is just the media telling us we should be offended. if you need the media to tell you to be offended about this then you really are beyond redemption though it's more nausea than offence... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stutthof_concentration_camp#Soap_production_from_the_bodies_of_victims

Allo Allo aired in the 1980s, and featured Herr Flick as an SS officer. So why is it suddenly now taboo and offensive when it wasn't in the 80's? Bruce_Shark
I'm with Harleyman and Taxman, bad form. ...On a point of dress, imo the SS were the best dressed outfit of all warring factions. I hope you meant this as ironic humour, because on a point of historical accuracy, it's flawed.
